This happens because the Grammy-awarded and much-recorded saxophonist, Gary Bartz, has contributed like few others in these developments. Starting his musical career at a time when modern jazz became extensively popular, Bartz performed beside musicians like Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Max Roach, McCoy Tyner, Woody Shaw and Miles Davis, the man who introduced him to electric music and gave him the opportunity to follow “groovier” directions and dimensions in the early 70s.
